How Infobip Academy is Helping us Hire the Best People

Do you remember those first days, weeks, months at a new job? That mixture of excitement and fear you have looking at the new challenge laying ahead, in a new work environment, with new colleagues by your side? Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone helping you get started off right?

At Infobip, teamwork and our culture are two of our greatest strengths so to help people starting here we created the Infobip Academy which gives everyone the tools to start their new career at Infobip on the right path. From day one you’re surrounded by Infobippers whose only goal is to make you a part of the team and for you to be successful.

The first Infobip Academy was organized in 2012 in Vodnjan, Croatia and by July 2016 we have held 32 Academies with over 440 participants.

This post is intended to give you a look at what Infobip Academy is like and help answer questions about this first part of our whole on-boarding plan.

How it all started

In 2010 Infobip was growing rapidly. We had a lot of new people who needed to learn our business and we needed a way to help streamline the final stages of the hiring process. Originally the Academy focused on sales training, but over the past six years it has expanded to include all areas of the business from marketing to products to development.

How it works?

The Academy program is very challenging on purpose. We work in a complex, technical business and it’s essential that everyone understand how our business works and how they fit into Infobip. It takes hard work, persistence, and a willingness to learn to succeed at the Academy, but that hard work is essential to your success at Infobip. The Academy doesn’t just cover the technical details of our business, but also the how all the departments and regions work together and, most importantly, Academy introduces you to Infobip’s unique and special culture. At the Academy you put what you learn to work with practice sessions that help prepare you for your job once you finish the classes.

All attendees are guided through Academy by two business mentors and one from people operations (HR), who together make sure you receive a top-quality education and assess your progress both formally and informally. The Academy isn’t just about learning the *technical* details of our business; we believe in living meaningful lives and Infobip could not have reached where we are now without passionate people. We all want to do work that has meaning and excites us. Guided by our core values, the mentors help assess how attendees will fit in with their team and the company as a whole.

It’s not just all work

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. We believe part of being successful is being a well-rounded person; there is more to life than work. We plan evenings and weekends as leisure time with organized sports activities, trips around the region, and beach time during the summer. Having fun together helps everyone learn about each other as people and that makes a stronger team at work.

What happens next?

At the end of their Academy training, everyone is evaluated on their progress. Feedback is based on test results and their mentors’ assessment of core competencies needed for your future role. In line with our philosophy of continuous learning, mentors identify areas for improvement and share their general impression with you in order to help you in your future development inside your team and Infobip.

After graduating from the Academy, you start working in your local office. Your Academy training prepares you for challenges you will be facing on a day to day basis, but that is just the beginning. When you return home to your local office your team and managers help you learn and grow and build your new future at Infobip.
