Add segment to communication

Add segments to a **Journey** or **Broadcast** to send targeted messages to specific audiences. To create segments, see [Create a segment](https://www.infobip.com/docs/customer-profiles/segments/create-a-segment). To learn about segment types, see [Segment types](https://www.infobip.com/docs/customer-profiles/segments/segment-types).

When you add a segment to communication, **all** [person profiles](https://www.infobip.com/docs/customer-profiles/persons) in that segment receive the communication.

## Add to Journey

1. Go to **Customer Profiles** → **Segments**.
2. Select the segment you want to add.
3. Select **Add to communication**.
4. Select **Journey**.
5. Choose whether to create a new Journey or add to a Journey:
   - **New Journey** - Creates a new Journey with a Continuous entry point. The selected segment is automatically added to the audience.
   - **Existing Journey** - Adds the segment to an active Journey that has a Continuous entry point. Select the Journey from the list and select **Add to Journey**.

The persons in the selected segment are now included in the Journey audience.

## Add to Broadcast

1. Go to **Customer Profiles** → **Segments**.
2. Select the segment you want to add.
3. Select **Add to communication**.
4. Select **Broadcast**.
5. Select the channel for the broadcast (SMS, Email, WhatsApp, and more).
6. The persons from the selected segment are automatically added to the **Recipients** field.
7. Follow the instructions in [Create broadcast](https://www.infobip.com/docs/broadcast/create) to complete the broadcast setup.

Note  
Segments update **dynamically** based on their rules. If you use a segment in a Journey with a Continuous entry point, new persons who meet the segment criteria are automatically added to the Journey.
