# Get started with Infobip
___

Infobip lets you communicate with customers on [SMS](https://www.infobip.com/docs/sms), [WhatsApp](https://www.infobip.com/docs/whatsapp), [Email](https://www.infobip.com/docs/email), [Voice](https://www.infobip.com/docs/voice-and-video), [Viber](https://www.infobip.com/docs/viber), [RCS](https://www.infobip.com/docs/rcs), [Apple Messages for Business](https://www.infobip.com/docs/apple-messages-for-business), and [other channels](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/explore/products-and-tools#send-messages), from one account. You can work in the web interface without code, through the API, or through an AI agent.

To start, [create a free account](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/create-an-account), send a test message from a shared test sender, and confirm that it was delivered. Then go live to send to real customers.

On a self-signup account:

- [Free trial](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/free-trial) with credits for each channel
- No payment details to sign up
- Shared test senders to start sending

## From sign-up to production

Follow these steps, from the main concepts to sending to real customers:

[Understand how the platform works](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/how-the-platform-works)
    Accounts, channels, senders, and how message delivery works.

[Create an account](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/create-an-account)
    Sign up, verify your email and phone number, and choose the channel to try first.

[Understand the free trial](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/free-trial)
    What the trial includes, its limits, and who you can send to.

[Send your first message](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/send-your-first-message)
    Send a test message from the web interface or through the API, and confirm that it was delivered.

[Go live](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/go-live)
    Get your own sender, move to a paying account, and send to real customers.

LEARN MORE
Does your company already have an account? A colleague with the Account admin role, or your account manager, adds you. Then [log in](https://portal.infobip.com/login).

Do you have a team, or several brands or customers? Set up your [account structure](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/account-administration/account-types-and-structures), and then [add users](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/account-settings/manage-users) and [assign roles](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/account-settings/manage-roles).

## Send an SMS through the API

Send your first SMS through the API, with the API key and base URL from your account. During the free trial, send from the shared test sender `InfoSMS`. On a self-signup account, send to a [verified recipient](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/free-trial#verified-recipients). Replace `{baseUrl}` with your base URL, `{authorization}` with `App` followed by your API key, and `{your-phone-number}` with the number you send to.

```bash
curl -X POST 'https://{baseUrl}/sms/3/messages' \
  -H 'Authorization: {authorization}' \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -H 'Accept: application/json' \
  -d '{
    "messages": [
      {
        "sender": "InfoSMS",
        "destinations": [
          { "to": "{your-phone-number}" }
        ],
        "content": {
          "text": "This is a sample message"
        }
      }
    ]
  }'
```

A response with a `messageId` means the message was accepted for processing, not that it was delivered. See [Accepted does not mean delivered](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/how-the-platform-works#accepted-does-not-mean-delivered).

Some channels and countries need a registered sender before you send to real customers. See [Get your own sender](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/go-live#get-your-own-sender) in Go live. To send without code, use Broadcast in the web interface. See [Send your first message](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/build-and-go-live/send-your-first-message).

To send through an **AI agent** instead, connect an AI tool, such as Claude or Cursor, through MCP. Then describe what you want in plain language. See [Build with AI agents](https://www.infobip.com/docs/get-started/explore/build-with-ai-agents).
