Hello developers! My name is Eli, and I’m coming on board the developer relations team as of January 2024. I’ll be curating and contributing to the library of tutorials, articles and use cases that we host here on the Infobip Developer Blog. I can’t wait to help solve problems with you all!

I’ve been a developer for about 8 years, ever since leaving university. During that time I’ve worked on systems ranging from telecoms to analog circuit design to biotech. These days, I do a lot of conference speaking and attendance, which means I get to meet all kinds of interesting people solving weird problems. I’ve been in developer advocacy for three years now, and it’s an incredible job.

Here’s me in Ante’s photo from BuildStuff 2023!

My primary programming language is Python, and I’m one of the organisers of PyCon UK (a great conference! I’d love to see some Infobip folks there this year). I’ve been fortunate enough to speak at a few PyCons over the last couple of years, and write some blog posts about memory management in Python.

Some of my other interests are web security and cryptography. My degree is in pure maths, so I get really geeky about things like elliptic curves and the theory behind quantum computing. I feel super lucky to have the kind of background that lets me engage with these kinds of topics, and I love trying to share my understanding whenever possible.

Outside of tech, I’m a knitter and crocheter, a big Tolkien nerd, and a musician (I play french horn regularly with the Linebreakers, a tech rock parody band founded by Dylan Beattie). I have way too many books to fit on my shelves, on topics like post-graduate algebra, hydroponic gardening, hard scifi, and all sorts of weird and wonderful things in between.
