What is changing

Early access
IMPORTANT

The new Financial reports experience is being introduced through a phased rollout: available to selected clients starting in September 2025 and to all clients from October 2025.

The new Financial reports are designed to provide a more scalable, transparent, and user-friendly experience. These changes address previous limitations and will improve accuracy, flexibility, and usability, aligning with our strategy to deliver aggregated, business-relevant insights.

Key benefits of the new financial reports

  • Enhanced support for CPaaS X customers: You can now aggregate and filter by application and entity.
  • More accurate cost reporting: Reports will include adjustments like volume-based discounts or pricing corrections, aligning better with Infobip's invoicing process.
  • Improved cost transparency: Operator fees and key cost components are now itemized and visible.

What is new and improved

Here's an overview of key enhancements:

  • Dedicated Financial reports section: Financial reports now have their focused section within Analyze, separate from performance or communication reports.
  • Standardized UTC zone: All financial reports now use UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). This eliminates confusion from time zone differences and aligns better with monthly invoices.
  • Improved data accuracy:
    • Adjustments and recalculations (like volume-based pricing changes) will be properly reflected.
    • Data for the current calendar month is provisional and may change due to late adjustments. Reports, including the current month, will display a clear warning that pricing may still be adjusted.
    • Free or unbilled traffic will be excluded to avoid clutter.
    • Operator fees and other essential cost components are now itemized and visible.

  • Enhanced cross-account visibility:
    • Users with Finance Manager or Account Manager roles can view aggregated costs across their account, related sub-accounts, and all accounts under the same company.
    • This unified view provides a clearer understanding of total messaging spend by mirroring the invoicing structure.
    • Visibility across all accounts under the same company is configured by default and cannot be changed by clients. Sub-account users will still only see their data.

  • Updated report structure and terminology:
    • The old Channel column has been replaced by a clear Category field and a separate Traffic type field to avoid confusion. This change also helps to future-proof for additional costs not explicitly tied to channel traffic.
    • The term Communication has been renamed to Campaign to reflect customer terminology better.
    • Billing units are now clearly defined in a Unit column (for example, message, message part, request, session, monthly active users).
    • Pricing terminology is standardized:
      • Quantity replaces Total billed traffic (representing the number of billable units).
      • Unit price is the cost per unit.
      • Total per unit shows the total cost for those units.
      • Currency, once part of the Total amount, is now a separate column.
    • Reports have a consistent layout across all channels, simplifying analysis. Metrics (for example, Unit, Unit price, Quantity, Total per unit, and Currency) are always appended at the end.

  • Updated filtering options:
    • Key filters, such as Account, Sender, User, Country, and Network remain.
    • New filters for Application and Entity are added, supporting CPaaS X clients.

What you need to do

Pay close attention to these critical updates:

  1. Recurring reports MUST be reconfigured/recreated:

    • Due to the new structure, existing recurring financial reports will need to be reconfigured or recreated after the update. They will not function once the new experience is live, so download any old reports if needed.
    • For assistance, reach out to your account manager or Support (opens in a new tab), once the new reports are live.
    IMPORTANT

Recurring reports will now only support monthly scheduling. Daily and weekly schedules will no longer be available.

  2. Messaging overview reports discontinued:

    • These reports will be discontinued due to low usage and because they present data at a too granular level (per message ID), which does not align with Infobip's reporting strategy. The new financial reports offer richer insights.

  3. Retirement of legacy filters:

    • Some legacy filters (for example, Status, Destination, Voice-specific filters) have been removed to simplify and align with the new report structure.

  4. Shift to UTC-based reports:

    • The new financial reports will be shown exclusively in UTC. Inform your team about it to avoid any inconsistencies.

Other important notes

  • Channel coverage limitations:

    • Voice and Video: Financial reporting for Voice and Video services will be addressed in future phases.
    • Certain OTT channels: Some channels are not yet included in this version of financial reports due to ongoing reporting and billing alignment work. These include Apple Messages for Business, Instagram, Messenger, Viber Bots, KakaoTalk, Telegram, Mobile identity, Zalo, and LINE. Support for these is planned for future updates.
    NOTE

To view full channel and service coverage, refer to Channels and services coverage section.

  • Data availability: You can fetch billing data for up to the last three months, including the current months. Pricing for the current month may not be final.

  • Multi-data center setups: If your organization uses accounts in multiple Infobip data centers (DC), financial reports are generated and accessed separately per data center. Each report includes financial data for accounts in that specific data center only. Cross-data center aggregation is not currently supported in the web interface. To make sure where your accounts are hosted, please contact your account manager or Support (opens in a new tab).

  • Upcoming price formatting change (early 2026):

    • Currently, Price (per unit) is displayed in minor units (for example, "50" for 50 cents), while Total billed price is in standard currency format (for example, "0.50" for 50 cents).
    • Starting in early 2026, Price (per unit) will also be shown in the standard currency format (for example, "0.50")
    • No action is needed now, as a separate notification will be sent in advance.

  • Legacy accounts: The new Financial reports experience is NOT available for legacy account setups due to their specific account structures and billing models. If you encounter issues, contact our Support (opens in a new tab).

  • WhatsApp Monthly Active Users (MAU) subscription visibility change: For customers on fixed MAU subscription plans, the number of included users will no longer appear in financial reports, only overage charges. Improved visibility of MAU packages is planned for a later update.

Next steps

The initial release focuses on foundational changes, including updating the data source, introducing a new report structure, and retiring outdated report types. Additional enhancements will be rolled over time, including new cost types, improved support for complex account hierarchies, and advanced financial reporting capabilities.

Financial data is still available in performance and detailed report sections, but it will be phased out in future updates. For the most accurate and flexible view of messaging cost, use the new Financial reports experience.
