What is WhatsApp Payments

|

View as Markdown

WhatsApp Payments for Business is a feature, currently available only in India and Brazil, that enables a seamless in-app checkout experience, allowing customers to complete purchases directly within a WhatsApp conversation.

Payment message types

A payment interaction consists of two message types:

  • Order details message: Sent by the business to initiate a payment. This interactive message acts as an invoice and includes the necessary payment action.
  • Order status message: Sent by the business after the payment is confirmed or failed, to inform the customer of the outcome.

The order details message includes four components:

  • Header
  • Body
  • Footer
  • Action: This component contains all required payment data.

When a user completes a payment, status updates are delivered using webhook notifications. Once payment is confirmed, businesses can send an order message to acknowledge the successful transaction.
