Email validation
Email validation is Infobip’s built-in solution that checks whether an email address is valid, active, and safe to send to. This prevents wasted sends, protects your reputation, and increases the likelihood that your campaigns reach the inbox instead of the spam folder.
Keeping your contact lists accurate and engaged is essential for deliverability.
Why validation matters
Sending to invalid or risky addresses leads to higher bounce rates, spam complaints, and increased costs. Over time, this damages your sender reputation and reduces inbox placement.
The Email validation solution verifies addresses in real time with mailbox providers and returns one of three outcomes:
- YES: The email address exists and is valid.
- NO: The email address does not exist or is invalid.
- UNKNOWN: The mailbox provider does not allow verification, or SMTP requests cannot be completed.
Validation is also available as a standalone service if you do not need the full Email solution.

Email validation best practice
Keep only addresses with the following values for best deliverability:
- Valid mailbox = YES: The address is confirmed to exist.
- Valid syntax = YES: The address is correctly formatted.
- Disposable = NO: The address is not from a temporary email provider.
- Role-based = NO: The address is not a group or generic role (such as info@ or support@).
- Catch-all = NO: The domain does not accept all emails regardless of the recipient.
Regularly validating your contact lists helps maintain high deliverability and protects your sender reputation.
