We’re proud to announce that our office in Kuala Lumpur has been moved to a new address and further strengthened with experienced IT and telecom professionals from both Asia and Europe.Opened in 2010 and being one of Infobip’s international cornerstones ever since, the office remained in the tech-hub Cyberjaya, but is now located on the 3A Floor, Block 4805 CBD Perdana 2, Cyber 12, offering a total of 420 square metres of modern office space.

Given all the development of mobile technologies originating in Asia, there’s no doubt about the role of our office in Kuala Lumpur as the regional HQ. Asia is where the future of mobile is created, and we’ll remain a part of that future through the strong presence in Malaysia, a beautiful and business-friendly country where elements of almost all Asian cultures merge.

Matija Percan – APAC Director, Infobip

The office now provides much more space and will remain the base of operations and business development in the region.

The office phone and fax numbers remained the same, so contacting Infobip in Malaysia will be just as easy.

Infobip launches enterprise USSD platform in South Africa

Director of Marketing EMEA

Zoha Tapia

Director of Marketing EMEA

LONDON, UK, JOHANNESBURG, RSA, 11 November 2013 – Global leader in providing mobile services to enterprises and mobile operators, Infobip has announced today it has built the technical platform for enterprise USSD in the Republic of South Africa.

Comprising push USSD as well as mobile initiated options, enterprise USSD allows banks and financial institutions to increase security of internet banking transactions via USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data), a telecoms protocol which can also be used for a number of different purposes.

In the words of Infobip CEO Silvio Kutic: “The viability of USSD in the financial industry has been proven time and again, due to its unique features that allow for the creation of security solutions, particularly in the authentication of financial transactions, where delivery of one time pins (OTP) to the end-user is one of the pillars of security. Such a convenient, reliable and affordable technology will always appeal to both enterprises and consumers.”

USSD is a communications channel that offers interactive capabilities supported by all kinds of mobile phones, from the basic handsets, to flagship smartphones, and requires no mobile data connection. Thanks to its menu-driven features easy on resources, USSD is predominantly used for m-banking and m-payments, as well as customer care, polling and info services.

Infobip’s enterprise solution rests on USSD coverage towards mobile network operators in the country and opens new business and communication opportunities in South Africa.

Tony Doubell, MD Infobip South Africa chimes in: “USSD is very popular in South Africa and is seeing a sort of a renaissance as the preferred tool in m-banking. Our solution is a one-stop-shop for any company requiring mobile interaction via USSD.”

Infobip will be presenting its mobile solutions at the premier telecoms and mobile industry event in Africa, the AfricaCom in Cape Town, exhibiting at booth P71 from 12-14 November.

Two-factor authentication helping OTT providers with conversion

Director of Marketing EMEA

Zoha Tapia

Director of Marketing EMEA

LONDON, UK, 23 October 2013 – As the competition intensifies in the over-the-top messaging app space, converting every app download into an app user is becoming crucial for profitability. Infobip’s industry-leading mobile services are now complemented by a two-factor authentication solution that harnesses Infobip’s global telco network for detailed number checks, ensuring app conversion rates.

In the messaging app download and install phase, two-factor authentication is crucial for determining a human user, instead of a potential hacking attack. After entering the mobile number, an SMS is delivered to the user’s smartphone with a unique PIN number necessary to complete the app installation.

However, research shows that in 4%-8% of app installation attempts, if the user inadvertently enters an unused, landline or otherwise invalid number, the installation cannot be completed, and the app maker is losing a potential user, whose experience will not reflect favorably on the brand either.

Into this flow, Infobip adds its Number Context service, checking every cell number and alerting the app provider if the number is invalid. The app provider can then prompt the user to re-enter the number, ensuring that the app installation and conversion are successfully completed. The process takes mere seconds and doesn’t affect user experience in any way. Such a level of service can only be provided by a company with a powerful technological platform and global, carrier-grade capacities.

Silvio Kutic, Infobip founder and CEO says, “For years now, we’ve been technological pioneers in the messaging space, connected directly to the worldwide telecom network through SS7 connections and using proprietary solutions to get the most out of the available technology. We’re currently maintaining more than 300 direct connections (IP and SS7) to the world’s most relevant operators, which makes us probably the largest messaging network worldwide.”

Mr Kutic goes on to say, “We’re in a unique position to match the global need for 2FA PIN delivery to mobile phones through our proprietary network. Many enterprises and all the big names in the OTT space are already using our systems on a massive scale. We are helping them with both the conversion and customer protection, which is a great source of pride in our work in the mobile ecosystem. We are looking forward to helping more businesses protect their customers through our solutions that constantly evolve to match the rapidly changing demands in the mobile industry.”

Silicon Valley: Rizzardini speaking at GMIC

Director of Marketing EMEA

Zoha Tapia

Director of Marketing EMEA

Our VP Mobile Payments, Paolo Rizzardini, will be speaking at one of the panels at GMIC, Silicon Valley’s largest mobile conference held on 22-23 October.

On 23 October, from 3:45 PM to 4:30 PM, Paolo will discuss remote mobile payments and the future of direct carrier billing, explaining how convergence of DCB with other mobile payment flows under one platform can boost revenue from any digital content. Our execs Paolo Francula, Massimo Cristini and Ante Ukalovic are also attending the event, so don’t hesitate to have a chat with them as well.

Mobile definitely has a central role in the future of payments. We can say that mobile payments, DCB in particular, are a global phenomenon even if still focused mainly on digital content. The near future of those payment options is in combining different technologies and payment flows in a single platform. That means that remote mobile payments will depend on service provider technology, end-user habits and specific market know-how. This strategy standardises user experience and uses all the advantages of locally accepted and highly trusted payment methods

Paolo Rizzardini – VP Mobile Payments

The panel, dubbed The developing future of commerce and mobile payments is part of Mobile Marketing Agency’s Mobile Marketing Track, which is focused on uncovering potential of mobile marketing to transform business strategies and influence their path to purchase. Other speakers include Nadia Shouraboura (CEO Hointer), Patrick Gauthier (Head of Emerging Services, PayPal), Corbett Drummey, (co-founder, Popular Pays) and Sheela Subramanian (Global Director, Business Development, Jana).

The panel will be moderated by Jonathan Ozeran, mobile products consultant and Northwestern University lecturer. Several hundred mobile, advertising, tech executives and developers are expected to be in attendance. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Infobip Continues Working on USSD Standardisation Within GSMA IWG Working Group

Director of Marketing EMEA

Zoha Tapia

Director of Marketing EMEA

LONDON, UK, 4 June 2013 – Infobip, one of the leading mobile services providers and a long-time GSMA associate member, announced its participation at the IWG #18 meeting taking place in London, 6-7 June.

Infobip’s executives Tomislav Gojevic and Marko Skomersic will be participating at the event and making a presentation about further steps in standardising international USSD connectivity, an initiative begun by Infobip, and one that the company feels will benefit all the participants in the mobile value chain.

The Interconnect Working Group of the GSM Association has overall responsibility for interconnection matters worldwide and its aim is to improve interconnect and interworking relationships between mobile operators as well as between operators and international carriers, hubbing providers and many other stakeholders in the mobile communications industry. Infobip itself hosted the 16th plenary meeting of the IWG last May in Zagreb, Croatia.

In the words of Mr Gojevic, “We’ve begun with the USSD standardisation initiative within the IWG and GSMA framework some time ago and even though we’re still not there yet, the results are beginning to show. USSD is an underutilised mobile channel and more standardisation can bring significant financial benefits primarily to mobile operators, as well as the entire mobile ecosystem.”

This edition of the IWG is organised by GSMA itself, bringing it closer to the regulatory framework of the world’s premier mobile trade association.
