Infobip shortlisted for Global Carrier Awards 2016
We’re delighted to announce that Infobip’s Business-as-a-Service partnership with Aircel India was shortlisted in the Best SMS Innovation category at the Global Carrier Awards, with Airtel, Turk Telekom, Telarix and Telin as fellow finalists in the category.
Global Carrier Awards is a major trade event that gathers the world’s leading telecommunications and technology providers, with top executives, CEOs and management figures attending the show. Other categories also feature some of the world’s leading telecommunications and technology companies, such as Deutsche Telekom, Etisalat, AT&T, Batelco, Orange and Tata, to name only a few.
Organised by Capacity Media, the awards ceremony is taking place in Paris on 8 November, and Infobip will be attending as the only cloud messaging platform provider in the running this year.
Of course, we’re hoping to repeat last year’s success of winning the Best A2P SMS Provider award at the Messaging and SMS World Awards also organised by Capacity, but in the stiff competition, whoever wins, it will doubtless be deserved. See you in Paris!
Banglalink to protect network against fraudulent activity using Infobip’s sGate solution
One of Bangladesh’s leading digital service providers selects Infobip’s SMS firewall solution to protect its subscriber base of more than 30 million.
London, UK, and Dhaka, Bangladesh, 13 October 2016 – Global mobile communications platform provider, Infobip, today announced the adoption of its sGate SMS firewall by Banglalink, one of the leading service providers in Bangladesh, to increase control and visibility of SMS traffic, allowing for a more secure and profitable messaging ecosystem.
sGate works as a “gatekeeper” to an operator’s network, monitoring and filtering SMS, USSD, and HLR, and detecting abnormal traffic flows indicating fraudulent activity. Based on automated tracking of SMS source behaviour, content, and format, sGate detects irregularities and allows an operator to tackle threats by blocking or monitoring them more closely. The system will monitor and control both domestic and international inbound SMS traffic across Banglalink’s network.
By giving Banglalink full network visibility, Infobip enables the operator to increase network efficiency by understanding where network congestion issues lie and allowing them to address unbilled A2P SMS traffic. Through pre-set traffic control polices, sGate creates a controlled ecosystem to ensure traffic conforms to the restrictions of the network and in turn enables the operator to benefit from new revenue and lower costs of SMS service.
Following a full review of the operator’s network, and in conjunction with local partner Wintel, Infobip’s integration and networking teams worked closely with Banglalink to implement the rollout of the platform. To ensure continued success of the deployment, Infobip has created a dedicated Bangladesh-based support team to allow mobile operators in the region to use the sGate SMS firewall both to minimise SMS fraud and drive new revenue opportunities.
“As one of Bangladesh’s leading digital service providers, Banglalink processes a significant volume of traffic and minimising and managing threats to its network is vital. By using sGate we will not only allow Banglalink to significantly reduce SMS threats on its network, but provide insight into SMS traffic which will in turn allow the network to become more streamlined and profitable,” said Silvio Kutic, founder and CEO at Infobip.
“To ensure we deliver the best possible service to our customers, protecting them from receiving unsolicited SMS spam and preventing potential unlawful communications, we needed a solution capable of handling high volumes of domestic and international traffic that could provide the visibility needed to ensure full security control of incoming messages to our users,” said Nasar Yousuf, B2B Business Director at Banglalink. “Based on its industry experience and credentials, we have chosen Infobip’s sGate solution as a means of safeguarding one of the most important aspects of our business.”

Infobip Expands Messaging Offerings With Email, Push, Viber For Seamless Enterprise Communications
Single API enhances security, privacy, and speed for more than 200,000 business users
VANCOUVER, British Columbia and SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — With a client list that has allowed it to reach nearly 60 percent of the world population’s mobile phones in the past 12 months, Infobip is expanding its capabilities as a leading cloud-based mobile messaging platform with new email, push, and Viber channels. These new channels integrate with its existing voice and SMS services to complement its communications solution.
“These new features reinforce Infobip’s commitment to be the most robust communications platform in the world,” said Infobip founder and CEO Silvio Kutic. “It enables companies to run their mobile-first communications based on customer preferences—all through a single, centralized platform. Our messaging API streamlines security, privacy, integration, and speed—all of which are paramount to best-in-class customer engagement.”
This newest update is part of a long series of upgrades to the platform that give enterprises an easy-to-deploy, mobile-first communications solution for the burgeoning customer communications market.
“Too often customer communication and engagement are not integrated across a company. They become siloed in product-based structures that can’t adapt to changing preferences, nor to an interest in products across several groups,” says Adrian Benic, vice president of platform and operations. “The key to solving these problems is understanding user behavior, channel preferences and technology protocols. Orchestration of a seamless mobile customer journey —that is the problem we solve. Our commitment to ongoing platform upgrades aims to deliver a better solution to that problem.”
Infobip is singularly qualified to develop and release a proprietary end-to-end mobile communications solution. Its history of developing cutting edge communications platforms for banks and telcos has made it acutely aware of how important it is to bring communications into a centralized infrastructure for stability and security. Infobip’s cloud-based communications platform gives enterprises the peace of mind that all of their data and communications are secured and protected from server to customer.
“The Infobip platform performs more than 7 billion monthly transactions for companies in more than 190 countries around the world in finance, transportation, retail, ecommerce, travel, social and beyond,” said Jeff Swan, marketing director, Infobip North America. “Some of the most recognizable companies in their respective categories rely on our proprietary platform to deliver messages and security solutions to their customers. We understand how critical it is to reduce the number of steps in message delivery through multiple providers to overcome global messaging challenges including security, verification, fraud protection, authentication, and connectivity.”
Infobip serves world’s largest internet companies, social networks and financial institutions with a range of mobile-first communication and authentication services. From anonymized 2-way SMS to on-premise messaging solutions to 2FA implementation, Infobip’s customers rely on the stability and reliability that only a company of its scale can provide.

Infobip opens Beijing office
INFOBIP OPENS BEIJING OFFICE LONDON, UK, BEIJING, PRC, 20 September 2016 – Cloud communications platform Infobip announced today the opening of its office in Beijing, following its Shenzhen office opened in December 2015.
Establishing operations in Beijing aims to improve the company’s capacity to serve the bustling local tech scene, especially startups and online firms seeking to expand outside mainland China.
– Many internet and tech companies based in Beijing seek to acquire users overseas. For those companies, Infobip is a perfect technology partner. By connecting to our platform over an API or web interface, they can easily launch and scale different communications and security services based around mobile phones. Nowadays, mobile phones are proving to be critical in user authentication, conversion and retention, especially for social networks, internet services, e-commerce sites and mobile apps, whose success largely depends on the ability to onboard and retain millions (or billions!) of users – potentially from anywhere in the world. These businesses are demonstrating a growing demand for reliable, globally-reaching services like SMS and voice 2-factor authentication, mobile number validation, notifications and omni-channel campaigns, explains Matija Razem, VP Business Development at Infobip.
All the services boast international reach, superb uptimes and engineering-grade tech support.
In the last 12 months, Infobip invested over EUR 5 million in building operations in China, with the investment planned to continue throughout 2017 and 2018. The company already serves a number of Chinese internet and tech giants, as well as small and medium companies.
– The Beijing office will further promote our “glocal” approach, which combines global expertise with strong local presence. In China, you can’t really say you’re truly local, until you have built firm operations close to your clients and partners. We’re honored to be part of the country’s amazing tech ecosystem, which is rapidly shaping itself into one of the world’s principal IT centers, says Silvio Kutic, Infobip founder and CEO. The company’s local operations in APAC, started in 2010, today span Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Taiwan, Japan, and Indonesia, with clients in the enterprise, banking, OTT, mobile and tech segments.

IB Connect 16 Recap: Celebrating 10 Years of Infobip
Our annual company conference themed “Ten years of disrupting the telecom world” which saw 170 Infobippers share, exchange local and international market knowledge, fuse new industry insights with novel ideas on how to deliver the best possible experiences for our clients and partners in 190 countries, has finished.
The week-long conference gathered delegates from all corners of the world – from China to North America, UK to Kenya and South Africa, from Brazil to Russia and India.
Reflecting on the beginnings of Infobip a decade ago, CEO and founder Silvio Kutic told a story of remarkable growth and success – from the first rented office without a proper internet connection where he and CTO Izabel Jelenic started developing the A2P messaging business, to today’s 48 offices and billions of monthly transactions.
How to innovate, help more enterprises reach their consumers with scalable technologies and ultimately connect business with people in a seamless, meaningful way requires both global and local perspective, vice presidents said in their speeches.
Adaptability is key for survival, said COO Roberto Kutic, showing how unconventional thinking and the ability to stay agile were vital for Infobip’s success.
It is also key for the product development philosophy. Founded on the extensive product development experience accumulated over years, it is reinforced with thorough knowledge of markets, clients and verticals around the world.
Infobip handles a billion of API calls every day, and is aiming to interact with every mobile device on Earth by 2018. The company currently serves over 150 banks, major internet companies, partners with 300+ telecoms and maintains the industry’s only full-stack CPaaS (Communications Platform as a Service).
Panel discussions, speed meeting sessions and department meetings with brainstorming and discussion sessions spread out during the conference. On the leisure and fun side, there was sports day and beach games in the Mediterranean sun.
More than 460 people gathered for the Saturday party closing out the Connect 2016 conference in style. You can enjoy the entire photo gallery on Flickr.
IB Connect 16: Global Gathering For New Telco Innovations
Dear partners and clients, we’re getting ready to start the Summer Connect conference – our annual company gathering at the place where Infobip’s story began.
The Istrian municipality of Vodnjan, along with its historic Bradamante Palace, will once again be playing host to the working sessions. To support the idea of the constant growth of young and talented Infobippers, a third venue has been added to the mix – the city’s Youth Community which we hope will spark new ideas for the future.
In total, the 6th Summer Connect is expected to gather some 400 people between 25 July and 31 July, a record 170 people for the working sessions plus around 200 for the big summer party and sports competitions taking place on Friday, 29 July.
By August 2018, we aim to interact with every mobile user on Earth. In 2015 and part of 2016, we’ve made giant strides in that direction with our technologies reaching over 6BN mobile devices. However, we do realize that we’re only just starting.
With 6 keynotes on relevant topics including those of Infobip founders, 9 panel discussions and 6 team presentations of success stories, a ton of speed meetings and panel discussions featuring regions with divisions, products and departments we hope the Connect will result in new, innovative products, services and business models your, our partners.
Right now, we’re already excited to show you what we have planned.
Infobip Introduces the Young Coders Program
We’re really excited to introduce the Young Coders Program, aiming at empowering Croatian students in Software Engineering.
Infobip has hundreds of skilled engineers and top regional programmers constantly innovating the platform responsible for sending more than 6 billion monthly SMS messages globally. By the time you’ve read this, our dev teams have already deployed 8 platform upgrades in a fully-controlled environment. Located in 5 countries, Infobip’s R&D consists of 28 teams. They handle 400 services across 6 data centers, deploying services every few minutes, around 90 times per day.
We feel that a working experience in an innovative IT space is something that enriches the already solid theoretical knowledge which students acquire during the education process and gives them an opportunity to gain practical experience. By presenting a challenge of a high-tech platform, they can test their mettle by working with top experts, see what kind of methodologies and technologies are used and what concepts like Domain Driven Design, Clean Code and Continuous Delivery mean in practice. A potential employment opportunity also awaits the best and brightest upon the completion of the program.
Izabel Jelenic – CTO, Infobip
The Young Coders Program is a continuation of our focus on positive hacking initiatives such as Infobip Dev Days, a knowledge-sharing conference which attracted 90+ developers from the leading tech companies in the region, on top of 200 Infobip experts in its last iteration, our involvement in Hour of Code and other programs proving an opportunity for students to learn and improve in the field of computer science.
