Infobip cooperation with Asseco Business Solutions will be based on improving communication capabilities by using Asseco WAPRO SMS systems.
In order to go into new markets with our offer, we developed a new approach to the management of sub-accounts, creating API tailored to existing products. Cooperation with Asseco Business Solutions is very important to us, we’re looking forward to the mutual benefits started by our joint activities.

Deployment Manager: Powering continuous integration
While continuous integration has improved software development processes in tech-companies around the world, the deployment of software often does not get as much attention as other processes do.
With over 250 services in production and more than 100 software upgrades happening in Infobip at any moment in time, it’s easy to see why building an automated software deployment tool was an important achievement for the quality of service we deliver to companies and developers all over the world.
So it was no wonder that our developers Aleksandar Dostic and Emir Dzaferovic put on quite a show at the recent JavaCro’14, by introducing audience with Deployment Manager, our in-house developed tool for managing multiple services in our data centres using automated deployment and controlling load balancing software (Apache, HaProxy).
– We described our approach to the efficient cloud deployment of a highly distributed system which can be quite complex to deal with, but it’s much easier when using the right tools, says Emir.
With the Deployment Manager, it’s possible to deploy a build in any environment (Windows, Linux etc.) in just 5 minutes, simplifying and speeding up continuous delivery of various system upgrades.
What does this mean for thousands of business clients and developers that use our professional SMS messaging capacity every day? It means that all the improvements and new capabilities, constantly developed by Infobip’s engineers, are going live in a faster and safer way.
Our experts have created a tool that through its unique GUI can easily deploy various types of applications, such as Tomcat, NET, NodeJS, and Java services. Switching the connection between the balancer and a server, setting up a new configuration, and running the app itself, becomes a five-minute process that can be done from any Internet-connected device.
Due to less man-hours spent on deployment, new features are implemented much earlier and potential bugs are solved almost instantaneously, even from mobile. In addition, quickly switching between versions results in less downtime for our services. Security, which is always our top priority, is enhanced by allowing exclusive access through the Development Manager.
– Infobip developers perceive innovation as much more than simply trying to implement modern development processes. We realise that innovation also comes from trying to perfect those process, which is exactly what we aimed to accomplish with Deployment Manager, added Aleksandar.
Aleksandar and Emir were voted the best presenters in the Methodologies & Tools category, and were also chosen among the best lecturers of the entire two-day conference, which saw 206 registered attendants from 11 countries, and over 50 presentations.
Infobip’s app engagement platform adds expert push notifications
LONDON, UK, 29 May 2014 – Infobip, the international provider of mobile messaging and payments has announced the addition of innovative features to its push notifications service oriented towards app developers, brands and marketers. All features of Infobip Push, including the newly-created Live Geo and Rich Media, can be tested for free, and as part of a special offer, Infobip clients can get up to 14 million free notifications by the end of the year.
The Live Geo feature harnesses the location-based capabilities of Infobip push notifications to deliver a geographically targeted, scheduled engagement campaign. With Live Geo set up, app users will receive a push notification whenever they enter a pre-set area, as opposed to standard location-based push notifications, which target an area and send out a bulk push regardless of the users in the area. Live Geo is perfect for short-term, time-sensitive campaigns like happy hours or shopping nights. Additionally, Live Geo can be scheduled, further improving accuracy and engagement.
With Rich Media Push, content such as an image, a video or a GIF can be delivered to the app user. Visual cues are a proven enticement for app-based communication and engagement – adding them gives app developers, brands and marketers another asset to promote their product or service at no cost for the end user. Infobip’s research suggests that the open rate for push notifications increases three times with the addition of images or video content.
“Mobile app developers and mobile marketers are always struggling with the major challenge – how to keep, engage and grow their app user base, particularly if the mobile app is globally available. A globally functional app engagement platform is the solution for this kind of headache mobile app developers are facing. Infobip is a company of developers and it’s only natural for us to expose rich resources for developers and help them bring their great app ideas and ambition to life. We’re here to back them with our proven technologies and expertise “, explains Zeljka Janda-Hegedis, Product Marketing Manager at Infobip.
She also emphasises that, “Infobip’s unique advantage is the ability to provide easy integration of push notifications, mobile payments, authentication and monetisation solutions, all through a single platform. This powerful set of converged tools and technologies targets not only game and app makers, but also brands and marketers who increasingly turn to mobile apps for consumer engagement via smartphones.”
App developers and marketers that wish to make the most of the fully featured, 14 million free push notifications can do so in a few simple steps described at our Push website. All app developers need to do in order to get the first million is to create and activate their Infobip Push account.
On top of these expert push notifications features, Infobip’s app engagement platform offers mobile payments solutions for in-app purchases, 2-factor authentication and an innovative solution for app recommendation to friends. All these diverse solutions can be added to mobile applications over Infobip APIs and libraries.

Johannesburg announced as Infobip’s SADC hub
JOHANNESBURG, RSA, 15 May 2014 – Infobip, a global provider of mobile messaging and payments, today announced that the expansion of its operations into the Southern African Development Community region will be coordinated and supported from Infobip’s South African headquarters in Johannesburg, which will also become a permanent regional hub. Johannesburg has already grown into Infobip’s major recruitment and education centre.
– Very soon we expect to have highly capable country managers fully prepared to assume their positions across the SADC. We have concentrated considerable resources in Johannesburg over the last couple of months, setting up internal education structures for an efficient transfer of specialised knowledge of telecoms and enterprises. Reflected in our technologies, solutions, technical support and account management practices, this rich in-house expertise – acquired through our work both in South Africa and globally – will allow us to create tangible benefits for enterprises, MNOs and millions of mobile subscribers in SADC, said Infobip CEO Silvio Kutic.
This announcement was preceded by Infobip’s recent launch of an enterprise end-to-end messaging solution, the first of such kind in South Africa. Consisting of locally deployed, in-house developed infrastructure, it enables enterprises to communicate via SMS with end users directly and securely, with no third party intermediaries. In October, the company announced the launch of a network-initiated USSD solution, used for OTP delivery in online banking services.
Based in Croatia and the UK, Infobip has been in the global A2P messaging industry for almost a decade. It has developed one of the world’s largest proprietary messaging networks, and a wide range of choices for enterprises and developers to connect to its powerful technology which processes over a billion transactions monthly.
Infobip has had a strong local presence in South Africa since 2010, when the office in Johannesburg was established, together with local technical support, onsite integration teams and customer care structures. Infobip’s technology evangelist Marko Skomersic will be speaking at Tech Demo Africa in Johannesburg on June 3, explaining the unique messaging architecture the company has developed in South Africa.

mGate introduces new features!
Based on high market demand and the complexity of requests we receive on a daily basis, a great portion of our development resources goes towards enhancing our enterprise messaging solution, mGate. These are some of the things that have been implemented during the past month.
Email alerting
The Manager, our monitoring module, now has an email alerting option. This option includes customisable system notifications along with spam protection in terms of preventing the same email content being sent repeatedly.
Scriptable connector statuses
New health check connector logic has been implemented. Now, as part of the monitoring process, three new statuses have been introduced: “OK” (healthy), “Warning” and “Error”. Based on specific client needs, the thresholds for each status can be configured. This allows an easier overview and improved system maintenance. Additionally, we’ve introduced a new security process which prevents the potential issue of one connector affecting the performance of the entire system.
Internal blacklisting
From this moment on, blacklisting will not only be available on the IP core, but also within mGate. The mGate Manager now features a panel where clients are able to create and edit a blacklist. This blacklist feature can be additionally configured on the provider level.
Hackathon: A learning step is a winning step
Just recently, Infobip sponsored a student hackathon in Belgrade, where 50+ participants split into teams had 24 hours to develop an e-Learning web application.
It was inspiring to see all the young and enthusiastic students at work, and we were amazed by the creativity and effort each team showed in their hacks, as well as with their ability to work through the night. The teams seemed comfortable in their familiar surroundings, splitting up all over the university labs to work on the challenging project.
Learning Steps – the coolest of apps
And we can’t but conclude – they nailed it! The winning team developed an app named Learning Steps which allows the creation of step-by-step learning paths, regardless of subject matter. For instance, if someone wants to learn Spanish, they will be directed to learn the alphabet (e.g. Wikipedia alphabet) first, and afterwards to an audio source where pronunciation of letters can be heard (e.g. YouTube). These learning paths continue in different directions, and learning can take many different paths, depending on the user’s learning style. The application also allows learners to choose their learning path based on past reviews.
Welcoming winners to Dev Campus
On their way to the finish line, some students grew weary but we’re proud to say that most of them completed the 24h programming day successfully. As it is with all competitions, only one team could go home with the first prize – a spot on our Developer Campus, a unique programme intended for students interested in coding. Based on a series of mini-projects, it is mentored by Infobip experts and lasts for 3 weeks.
We partnered with the Belgrade hackathon alongside other companies like Microsoft and Devan, which seek to promote coding among youth in South Eastern Europe. Our developers Miroslav Milivojevic and Milan Radojkovic participated as mentors, providing a helping hand to young competitors as they strived to do the best they could. Aleksandar Brankovic, head of our mobile payments development, was on the jury. Martin Pelemis and Marija Holjevac of human resources introduced students to our company, products and culture.
We’re delighted to have the winning team attend our Developer Campus, and see what they will come up with there.
Infobip launches first ever end-to-end enterprise messaging solution in South Africa
JOHANNESBURG, RSA, 8 April 2014 – Infobip, a global provider of mobile messaging and payments, announced today that it has launched the first ever end-to-end business messaging solution in South Africa. This makes Infobip the only provider to enable companies – banks, brands, OTTs, social networks, aggregators and others – a direct SMS messaging communication with their end-users, with no intermediary system at any point in the interaction chain.
The robust solution consists of locally deployed, redundant messaging infrastructure: Internal Processing (IP) Core, and a proprietary A2P SMSC with direct access to SS7 network, ensuring that no third party stands between the critical enterprise traffic and the end users. Furthermore, the solution provides companies with easy integration options, ranging from APIs to specialised integrated products like mGate. The latter is a mobile messaging gateway that connects with any enterprise core system to enable smooth, real time messaging and advanced management and reporting features.
– It’s not only a unique architecture in South Africa, but also a unique technical concept on a global scale. Each part in the message delivery chain is our own product, from mGate and IP Core, to the very SMSC. Developed, maintained and controlled by Infobip exclusively, all these elements form a powerful end-to-end messaging solution, delivering secure communication of exceptional quality. Paired with a transactional, no CapEx, no OpEx business model that allows excellent commercial terms, this state-of-the-art solution is a crown of our 2-year long work in South Africa, and a great achievement of our technical teams, says Infobip CEO Silvio Kutic.
The architecture is supported by a strategic alliance with a licenced mobile network, Infobip’s dedicated local presence in South Africa, and agile technical support. It took Infobip two years to build this system that brings new levels of security, reliability and simplicity to South African enterprises of all types and sizes that seek to integrate mobile messaging into their operation.
Infobip’s global messaging platform processes more than 1 BN monthly transactions, sustaining over 120 000 business accounts, and serving OTTs, brands, banks, social networks, aggregators, and other companies in need of highest-quality enterprise messaging solutions. Infobip’s technology is trusted by enterprises around the world, and used for the delivery of SMS notifications, loyalty programs, authentication solutions, anti-fraud alerts, one-time PINs and other mobile financial, marketing and security solutions.
