London, UK, 16 April 2015 – Infobip, the leading provider of mobile services to IT companies, start-ups and app developers, today announced the launch of Infobip Voice, an enterprise-grade suite of cloud-based voice applications.

Infobip Voice lets enterprises and developers quickly and easily add voice capabilities to their existing software through an API-powered cloud platform, avoiding hardware costs and complex system integration. The service harnesses Infobip’s worldwide connectivity to hundreds of mobile operators, and was developed using in-house expertise gained from Infobip’s heritage in providing mobile services to the banking and technology sectors.

By introducing Voice to its mobile services cloud, Infobip is now in the unique position of offering a complete mobile platform for enterprises and app developers to help increase security and customer engagement. With support for all major mobile services, including SMS messaging, push notifications and direct carrier billing, Infobip provides developers with a wide range of tools designed to drive reach, monetisation, and user satisfaction.

“Infobip is committed to providing a complete communications service platform for our enterprise and developer customers,” said Silvio Kutic, founder and CEO at Infobip. “As telecoms services are increasingly becoming IP-based, introducing voice to our existing mobile services cloud was the next logical step.”

Building on Infobip’s longstanding A2P messaging expertise, the Infobip Voice platform is designed to process huge data volumes. It has already been proven to perform flawlessly during high traffic periods, made possible by Infobip’s global infrastructure network. All services offered by Infobip are ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified, meeting stringent requirements for information security and service quality.

Key features of Infobip Voice include support for both voice and SMS messaging over the same DID (Direct Inward Dialling) number, inbound and outbound calls, text to speech capabilities for voice messaging or voice-enabled two-factor authentication, and a web interface for service managing and analysis.

Centili for Android: In-app purchase library now weighs only 50kb

Director of Marketing EMEA

Zoha Tapia

Director of Marketing EMEA

Infobip’s carrier billing solution Centili reduced its Android in app payments library to 50 kB only, to allow an even smoother integration with Android apps. This is currently the smallest SDK on the market to power in-app payments for Android.

SDK size cannot be overlooked by developers who seek to monetise without adding unnecessary weight to their apps. Adding 1 MB vs adding 50 kB can make a huge difference when trying to optimise the app for older types of smartphones, which sometimes allow users to run only a limited number of apps.

Announced earlier this month, the improvement means more opportunities for a better payments experience, quicker loading times and ultimately, better conversion. Read more on Centili website or check the Android library.

Another Mobile World Congress is over – seventh in a row for Infobip, the show was once again the ultimate place of mobile industry networking, work and fun. With 600+ business meetings and nine workshops held over four days at our 2-floor stand, MWC was as busy and inspiring as ever.

We prepared tons of coffee, gave out over a 1000 product guides and threw a huge, traditional Tuesday party with carefully chosen food and drinks.

Media and analysts briefings were a good opportunity to probe into industry trends. Infobip-hosted workshops tackled the developments in messaging platforms, direct carrier billing and app engagement. Discussions kept going long after speakers closed their laptops in our upper-floor conference room that overlooked the App Planet Hall of the Fira Gran Via Conference Centre.

Thanks everyone for making MWC so great again and looking forward to seeing you next year! Check out our photo gallery by visiting our Flickr and Facebook profiles.

Infobip platform: 150,000 accounts and counting

Director of Marketing EMEA

Our professional SMS messaging platform recently saw the opening of its 150,000th account. In-house designed, developed and maintained for almost a decade, it’s one of the most trusted A2P SMS platforms with 5 proprietary data centres worldwide, relying on redundant geo-distributed infrastructure to deliver top quality messaging traffic to 190 countries.

The list of accounts using it includes wholesale clients, enterprises, OTT companies and developers using our 2-factor authentication solution, as well as non-profit organisations, government institutions and community services.

In 2014, we invested over 2 million euros in hardware and connectivity to upgrade the platform and keep it performing at peak efficiency.

The investment alone wouldn’t be enough without assigning and educating specialised technical teams to platform R&D and maintenance. The extensive work they all put in is also reflected in security certificates awarded to Infobip, including the PCI DSS and ISO 27001.

When connecting to the platform, businesses can choose between proprietary APIs, user-friendly web applications, or database integration options. Whatever their choice, they get a unique mix of experience and professionalism backed by one of the largest non-telco networks in the world.

Join our MWC workshop to learn more on how professional messaging platforms will evolve in 2015!

Get ready for the App Start Contest – one of the most popular student competitions and mobile app development events in Croatia. Organised by eSTUDENT this competition encourages teams of college students under the mentorship of the leading IT companies to build programming solutions for a variety of mobile platforms since 2012.

This is your chance to make your idea the next big thing in apps so apply for the competition until January 31 and get creative! The most talented developers from Croatia will be gathering in Zagreb on January 16 along with the organisers from eSTUDENT to officially present the contest – visit the Faculty of Electrical Engineering on Friday at 16:00 and hear more about the partners, sponsors, competition rules and criteria.

Dragan Bencic with 2013 runners up, Tomislav Dubravcevic and Josip Antolis later employed by Infobip

As has become tradition, Infobip continues to support both the App Start Contest and eSTUDENT in an endeavour to boost development, creativity and teamwork among young people in the region, which goes hand in hand with our values and beliefs.

The maturity of certain competitors, as well as their app designs and programming, is quite often a step beyond from what we expect, which always blows us away. Personally, I’m always impressed by the focus of young people who know exactly what they want to accomplish and at the same time display the skills to professionally showcase it to a broader audience. Some of our existing developers presented their case to work in Infobip right at this very competition

Hour of Code: Teaching a bit of coding magic in Sarajevo

Director of Marketing EMEA

Zoha Tapia

Director of Marketing EMEA

They say programming is like magic. To kids and young people, it opens up new realms, worlds to explore, teaches them creativity and problem solving. It also teaches that the human mind is our greatest asset and that there’s nothing that we can’t accomplish if we put it to good use.

Infobip jumped at the chance to open these doors as part of the ”Hour of Code“ initiative, a global programming movement teaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Our job is connecting businesses with people, but connecting isn’t just about technology which we pride ourselves on, it’s also a responsibility to transfer what we know to younger generations.

At this point, learning to code is simply about understanding how the world functions.

Chris Bosh – NBA star, who also participated in code.org’s project

Indeed, we can teach them a lot about how the world works, but with the right early incentive, there is so much more they will be able to teach us. The plan was simple, developers Dino Bico, Admir Okovic and Edin Fazlic would provide an hour of a coding introduction to 35 students at the Hasan Kikic elementary school in Sarajevo, demystify computer science and show that anybody can create some magic with lines of code.

For starters, it was all about simulating coding with cups and programming an imaginary robot called “Zed” who organised said cups in football-type formations. Then, the students split in two groups did some reverse engineering, trying to decrypt the programming from the other team which gave them insight in code implementation and differences in programming logic. Just like that, the hour had passed far too quickly, so our team extended its stay to answer volumes of questions coming from eager ears.

This really was a fascinating experience. These students have amazing potential, they all participated with glee and raised intelligent issues. We had a blast answering each question with as much information as we could cram in there. We’re also looking forward to continuing down this path because when you see something like this, it’s impossible to go back.

Edin Fazlic – Software Engineer, Infobip

As expected, with dedicated cooperation of the school’s principal and governing bodies, the students grabbed programming with both hands and never let go. And why should they? Most kids like to create things, so coding comes to them as naturally as playing a game like basketball. For us, it’s all about giving them the opportunity to play

Making quality software: AI planning in cloud deployment

Director of Marketing EMEA

Zoha Tapia

Director of Marketing EMEA

Stay tuned for the most recent findings on how quality software is made! One of Infobip’s internal tools – Deployment Manager,  will be presented this week at the Continuous Delivery Conference in Bussum, Netherlands, held under the slogan From continuous integration to continuous delivery.

In software development, the deployment of software rarely gets as much attention as other processes. Moreover, the deployment to the cloud can be quite complex when dealing with highly distributed systems requiring a wide range of different applications.

Having worked closely with Infobip’s engineers to get acquainted with Deployment Manager PhD students from the University of Groningen, Netherlands have discovered an excellent topic for their doctoral research. As a result of this work (which will continue in months to come) this week they will present how automated deployment can be improved with artificial intelligence planning. An increasing number of systems are adopting AI planning and scheduling techniques in order to afford a complex application context, and to get solutions that better fit problem constraints and user needs.

The use of AI planning techniques allows developers to model data quality requirements and automatically identify defined activities, and thereby contribute to redirecting relevant data to the right address. When using these techniques, the AI works on a per-goal basis, prioritising adequate goals and actions after analysing the situation. With this in mind, it’s easy to see the advantages of combining two powerful solutions such as Deployment Manager and AI planning.

To learn more about the automated deployment of cloud services by using AI planning, join our partners at the conference on, Thursday December 4 in Bussum, Netherlands, at the new annual high-level conference founded with the mission to address the many changes that impact how quality software is produced and delivered.
