New Infobip research shows the rising dominance of chat apps for customer communications
- Data from more than 153 billion communications interactions shows customers now prefer conversations with brands on their favorite digital channel
Vodnjan, Croatia, November 23, 2022 – New research from global cloud communications platform Infobip reveals that chat apps such as WhatsApp are becoming crucial channels for customer communications, demonstrating the growing importance of conversational experiences. Infobip’s data shows an 80% and 62% increase in WhatsApp and rich communication services (RCS) interactions respectively in the first half of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.
Customers now have access to more channels and devices than ever before. Whether for marketing, support, or sales, they increasingly want conversational experiences with a business or brand on their preferred channel. But organizations may struggle to keep up with such preferences and provide the experience customers have come to expect without the right omnichannel communications in place.
To help businesses understand changing habits, Infobip analyzed more than 153 billion communications interactions on its platform from the first half of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.
The analysis reveals several trends in customer communications. First, customer communications today are more digital than ever, with a 68% increase in interactions across all digital channels. Second, alongside the growth in chat app interactions, some 99% of customer support and chatbot interactions are now on WhatsApp.
However, while newer channels are gaining momentum, the data shows the continued growth of more traditional channels, such as SMS and email. Interactions on these channels increased by 75% and 91% respectively with Infobip seeing emerging uses around timely alerts and security solutions such as two-factor authentication.
Infobip also finds that many sectors also reflect the same trends. For instance:
Infobip’s data shows the growth in chat apps has given rise to newer use cases such as conversational commerce, where messaging and eCommerce meet to enable better customer experiences and superior results for businesses.
Ivan Ostojić, Chief Business Officer at Infobip, said: “Our data reveals how conversational customer experiences are quickly becoming the new normal. Customers don’t want a one-way interaction with a brand. They want a conversation – whether for support, sales, or marketing. But, as our data shows, to meet customer needs, businesses and brands must first embed global real-time omnichannel communications. When omnichannel communications are in place, businesses can create meaningful relationships with their customers on their preferred channel at any point in their journey, helping boost loyalty and ultimately sales.”

Infobip Enters Street Fashion by Launching a Limited Edition NFT Hoodie with IUTD Studios on Polygon
Vodnjan, Croatia – November 21, 2022: Infobip, the most connected global cloud communication platform, collaborated with IUTD Studios to launch an innovative, limited edition NFT hoodie. In cooperation with young Canadian-Croatian designer, Joshua Čirjak, Infobip enters the street fashion game, becoming one of the first in the tech industry to do so.
Along with the organization of Infobip’s Shift and the acquisition of the leading SEE tech-business magazine Netokracija, Infobip continues to make strides in reaching out to the developer and tech community by entering street fashion. And hence the launch of the Infobip Worldwide hoodie – a perfect statement piece where fashion meets tech.
“Developers love hoodies, I would even say it’s their favorite fashion piece. Although almost every tech company has its merchandise – hoodies, t-shirts or even socks. At Infobip, we decided to make a well-designed and limited-edition fashion piece – in short, a hoodie that people would want to wear with pride, and thus the idea of a collaboration with IUTD Studios was born. As we are among the first to do such a thing in the tech industry, so decided that a hoodie without tech was not worth making, so we added technology by integrating them with NFT tech to make them alive in the digital world,” Ivan Burazin Infobip’s Chief Developer Experience Officer.
Thanks to a built-in reader, each of the 300 fashion pieces are unique and authentic. They can be verified by scanning the NFC tag with a smartphone. The Infobip Worldwide hoodie is inspired by Infobip’s mission to connect people globally. It shows the growth and presence of the company in over 70 cities around the world by listing it on the back of the hoodie.
“Also, along with the hoodie, we created a set of special accessories – pins. Each pin represents one of Infobip’s global locations. With this, we wanted people all over the world to be able to collect and combine pins on their hoodies and thus give them an additional dimension of uniqueness,” said Burazin.
IUTD (I Used to Dream) Studios is a trending design studio started by the young Croatian designer, Joshua Čirjak, who previously collaborated with celebrities and global brands for whom he made designer clothing. In cooperation with Infobip, he has successfully combined modern technology and his famous design.
“My idea was to create a hoodie that is alive, has a heart and is unique. Each hoodie also features a built-in NFC tag that enables the owner to possess it in both parallel worlds in which we live – physical and digital. It is a great honor for me to cooperate with Infobip. I am extremely grateful that together we managed to do something extraordinary and innovative,” said Joshua Čirjak, Creative Director at IUTD Studios.
“Every future buyer of the Infobip Worldwide hoodie will be asked for their Polygon address prior to completing the purchase. Once they receive the hoodie, they will be able to claim their NFT by touching the NFC tag, after which the option to add it to their digital wallet opens. There are no payments needed (also known as “gas fees”) for the owner of the Infobip Worldwide hoodie, as Infobip’s backend service will create or “mint” the NFT for them and after adding it to the wallet, anyone can touch the NFC of the hoodie and automatically check the authenticity via OpenSea.” said Marko Marinovic, CTO of Blank the company Infobip tapped to create the technology.
All information about the limited series of IUTD Studios x Infobip hoodies, as well as personalized accessories, will be available on the website.

Infobip to improve customer satisfaction with Dialogflow integration through partnership with Google Cloud
- Infobip’s innovative omnichannel communications platform will now be available to organizations that use Dialogflow to create conversational experiences with users on their preferred channels and improve user satisfaction
November 17, 2022 Infobip, a global cloud communications platform, has integrated with Dialogflow, Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot building platform, to provide enhanced messaging capabilities for Dialogflow customers. The integration leverages Conversations, Infobip’s cloud contact center platform, and WhatsApp for Business, to provide rich and meaningful customer messaging. This integration is designed to help improve satisfaction and reduce demand on customer service agents.
Organizations increasingly want to connect with companies using their preferred channels of communication. Responding to this trend, Google Cloud Dialogflow now offers access to WhatsApp through Infobip’s cloud contact center solution Conversations, helping improve user satisfaction and retention. In addition, the integration enables Dialogflow customers to scale their operations and customer communications globally, through a single platform.
As a globally connected cloud communications platform, Infobip is an excellent partner for leading businesses such as Google Cloud. This partnership leverages Infobip’s experience in creating rich messaging journeys and is part of Infobip’s strategy to build a global omnichannel communications ecosystem. Infobip provides the tools partners and clients require to meet the needs of their customers across any channel, removing the need for multiple platforms or pieces of software. This approach simplifies communication channel management and creates a win-win for partners and clients to better support businesses as they reinvent how they communicate with their customers.
Dialogflow is a life-like, conversational AI chatbot. It supports rich, intuitive, natural customer conversations, powered by Google Cloud’s AI engine. Dialogflow enables businesses to build conversational apps quickly, reducing deployment time from days to minutes, and has been developed to help enterprises with global scalability.
Veselin Vukovic, VP of Strategic Partnerships at Infobip, said: “More and more customers would prefer to message a business than make a call. Businesses need to be where their customers are, which is why we’ve integrated with Google Cloud Dialogflow to offer clients access to Conversations, our cloud contact center platform, and WhatsApp for Business. By enabling our clients and partners to add real-time communications features to their applications without needing to build the infrastructure, we help accelerate the pace of innovation while generating truly engaging customer experiences. Google Cloud’s like-minded approach to technology and innovation makes them a perfect partner for Infobip and we hope to continue working alongside them.”

Infobip creates AI-powered chatbot for Uber, enabling its Delhi-NCR customers to book rides via WhatsApp
- The new chatbot, deployed on the WhatsApp Business Platform, uses Infobip’s chatbot building platform ‘Answers’ to make booking an Uber more convenient and quicker
- The superior WhatsApp to Ride (WA2R) experience has multilingual capabilities and provides customers in Delhi NCR with an enhanced experience
The chatbot has been built and deployed on the WhatsApp for Business platform using Infobip’s chatbot building platform ‘Answers.’ The WhatsApp to Ride (WA2R) experience is now available for Uber riders across Delhi-NCR, one of Uber’s top cities globally by volume. The launch comes after a pilot in Lucknow in December last year, where Uber received a significant proportion of ride requests from new users, demonstrating potential product market fit.
By 2025, 80% of customer service organisations will have abandoned native mobile apps in favour of omnichannel messaging to deliver a better customer experience, according to Gartner. Now more than ever, rather than trying to tempt users away from their favoured apps, business and brands must meet them where they are.
Silvio Kutić, CEO of Infobip said, “Customers are increasingly moving away from an app-only approach. Instead, customers want to communicate with brands using their preferred method. So, businesses need to be where their customers are and provide an end-to-end customer journey within the channels their customers use. We’re delighted to have played a role in building this new WhatsApp chatbot solution for Uber and look forward to seeing its impact now and in the future as its rollout continues. We are even more thrilled as we are the global cloud communication platform provider to both the companies involved – Uber and WhatsApp.”
Abhilekh Kumar, Director, Business Development, Uber India South Asia, said, “We want to make it as easy as possible for our new sets of consumers to take an Uber trip, and to do that we need to meet them on platforms they are comfortable with. Our partnership with WhatsApp enables that, giving riders a new way to book a ride through a simple, familiar, and trusted channel. We are pleased to co-create the chatbot feature with Infobip for an altogether new customer experience while booking an Uber ride.”
Ravi Garg, Director, WhatsApp Partnerships, India said, “After a successful implementation of the ‘WhatsApp to ride’ experience in Lucknow, we are excited to expand WhatsApp’s partnership with Uber and launch this service for users in Delhi NCR. The simplicity of ride-booking experience within the WhatsApp interface has helped Uber acquire new riders and we look forward to supporting them in their growth trajectory. Uber and businesses across sectors are leveraging the WhatsApp Business Platform to build a variety of scaled custom solutions that help advance customer convenience and enable richer customer engagement. We look forward to continuing building partnerships with businesses to help them unlock avenues of access to new audience cohorts who use WhatsApp extensively everyday.”
With more than two billion users globally and some 400 million in India alone, WhatsApp is one of the world’s most popular messaging channels. So, Uber chose Infobip’s Answers platform to tap into the popularity and convenience of WhatsApp and enhance the customer experience. ‘Answers’, Infobip’s smart virtual assistant, makes the process of booking a ride more automated and quicker. With its multilingual capabilities in English and Hindi, Infobip’s chatbot helps Uber further expand its reach.
Infobip and Uber have collaborated since 2014, first with SMS and then with number masking solutions, ensuring rider and driver information is protected. Besides WhatsApp, Infobip’s chatbot building platform can be deployed across all vital communication channels, including Viber, SMS, and Facebook Messenger, among others. By implementing chatbots, companies can reduce operational costs and increase customer satisfaction by being available 24×7.

Infobip integrates with ServiceNow to improve customer experience
Infobip’s market-leading omnichannel communications platform is now available on the ServiceNow Store, helping clients connect with customers on their preferred channels
October 11, 2022 – Infobip, the global cloud communications platform, has integrated with ServiceNow to provide enhanced messaging capabilities for ServiceNow customers. The integration, available now in the ServiceNow® Store, improves the customer experience by using two-way messaging for customer support, resulting in faster response times, consistent messaging, and increased customer satisfaction.
Business messaging continues to gain popularity, reaching 2.7 trillion messages globally in 2020, according to Juniper Research. Through this integration, ServiceNow customers can access Infobip’s market-leading omnichannel communications platform, as ranked by tech analyst Omdia. Infobip’s messaging solution for ServiceNow enables businesses to deliver one-to-one conversational customer and employee service and support using their preferred channels, including SMS and WhatsApp. The integration delivers frictionless customer experiences that reaches customers where they are.
The benefits of conversational messaging are clear. Previous Infobip clients have been able to reduce contact center costs by up to ten times while increasing net promoter scores by nearly 20 percent. Others have been able to scale quickly and speed-up sales by around six times.
Conversational messaging expedites communication and helps resolve customer and employee issues more quickly, unlocking employee and company productivity. The integration reduces costs by automating some interactions. For example, by handling customer service requests through messaging, agents can process five to 10 times the number compared to a phone-based service, as recorded in previous Infobip use cases.
Veselin Vuković, VP Strategic Partnerships at Infobip, said: “Creating connected customer experiences is at the heart of what Infobip does. By leveraging the world’s most connected communications platform, we help partners and their clients unlock new revenue streams and drive loyalty and ultimately growth. Our integration in the ServiceNow Store extends our commitment to the ServiceNow community and enables customers to reap the benefits of rich, conversational channels.”
The integration helps extend the reach of Infobip’s omnichannel communications platform. It also provides ServiceNow customers with access to Infobip’s more than 700 direct carrier relationships globally along with a wide range of channels through a single platform.
Accessed through a single platform, Infobip’s omnichannel engagement, identity, user authentication, security, and contact center solutions help clients overcome the complexity of consumer communications, grow their business, and increase loyalty – all in a fast, secure, and reliable way.

Google and Goldman Sachs partner with Infobip to launch a mentorship program for startups from the youngest EU member country
US-based tech and finance leaders eyeing Croatia as the next European Silicon Valley
16 Croatian startups included in the Scale|Croatia mentorship program now have access to the best tech and financial experts advising them on the development of their businesses
Croatia, August 30, 2022 – US-based Google and Goldman Sachs today announced a new partnership with Infobip to launch an innovative mentorship program for startups from Croatia, the youngest EU member state with a population of more than 4 million. The country already has created its first two unicorns and its potent startup community is increasingly standing out in the Southeastern Europe region, and within the EU. Infobip, the leading global cloud communications platform, is one of the examples of a successful startup that started in small Croatia and reached unicorn status.
Google and Goldman Sachs recognized Infobip as a leader in the tech ecosystem in Croatia and the region. The Scale|Croatia joint mentorship program is open to all Croatian-based startups from Infobip’s Startup Tribe program. In the first year of Scale|Croatia, founders from 16 Croatian startups have received access to a 4-month mentorship program, enabling even faster and better-quality development and scaling of their businesses.
“Jigsaw is honored to participate in the Scale|Croatia mentorship program to further develop the tech ecosystem in this emerging European hub. We look forward to continuing to partner with emerging leaders of innovative companies in the region,” said Scott Carpenter, Director at Google Jigsaw.
Startup founders will get dedicated mentors from Google and Goldman Sachs with whom they can consult on various aspects of business development – product development, fundraising, marketing, sales and other fields.
“We decided to pilot this project with Croatian startups as we noticed a pattern of almost unlikely – but outstanding success stories. The data shows remarkable results for the up-and-coming Croatian tech sector. Croatia seems to be on a path that’s very similar to Estonia and Israel in the earlier days of their ecosystem, so the timing to engage with this particular group of young entrepreneurs feels very opportune“, said Jared Cohen, Co-Head of Applied Innovation and President of Global Affairs at Goldman Sachs.
Among the 16 startups from Croatia, Osijek-based Orqa stands out – a world leader in developing FPV goggles for drone pilots, and other startups developing products.
“We are very pleased that through Scale|Croatia we can help Croatian startups to more easily reach global leaders such as Google and Goldman Sachs. The fact that such large companies recognized the potential of our startup ecosystem is validation for us at Infobip, but also an important honor for the tech sector in Croatia, which positions itself as a new European tech hub, the European Silicon Valley alike. I wish much luck to all startups in the program and I am convinced that they will use all the opportunities it brings them,” concluded Nikola Pavešić, Director of Startups at Infobip.
The program was launched in June with an on-site event in New York City, attended by the majority of the 16 startup founders. The on-site kick-off was held in both Offices of Goldman Sachs and Google, where participants had an opportunity to listen to experienced speakers from both companies.
“The program opened access to a completely new level of expertise for Croatian startups, which unfortunately cannot be found at home. To be specific, we found it extremely useful to gauge the experience of Google in the field of product management, as well as the experience that Goldman Sachs has in listing tech companies on world stock exchanges. We are extremely grateful to Infobip and the Infobip Startup Tribe for everything they are doing for the regional startup ecosystem, and I hope that other large local companies will be inspired by this”, said Srđan Kovačević, co-founder and CEO of Orqa.
Currently, the startups are halfway through the program, and positive results have already been reported. The Scale series, if proves successful with the Croatia edition, it will serve as a blueprint for other regions across the globe as well.
“We are very pleased that, through the Scale|Croatia, we can help domestic startups reach global leaders such as Google and Goldman Sachs, which ten years ago – when I was personally running my startup, was nearly impossible. Now with programs like this, this is no longer the case, and I am extremely proud that we at Infobip now serve as a bridge for all startups in the region to connect to the world’s center of the tech industry”, concluded Ivan Burazin, Chief Developer Experience Officer at Infobip.

Integration helps HubSpot’s clients connect with their customers on the right channel at the right time to increase loyalty
London Aug 23, 2022 – Infobip, the global cloud communications platform, has built an integration with CRM platform HubSpot to provide WhatsApp and SMS messaging for HubSpot’s clients. The integration, available in HubSpot’s App Marketplace, enables its clients to connect with customers using their preferred communication channel, to deliver a great customer experience and boost engagement and sales.
Numerous studies show that customers would rather message a business than call and many expect business messaging to become even more popular in the future. Responding to its clients’ needs, HubSpot wanted to offer the best omnichannel experience. Now HubSpot’s clients can access Infobip’s market-leading omnichannel communications platform, as ranked by tech analyst Omdia.
By syncing Infobip’s WhatsApp and SMS channels with HubSpot, businesses can send automated messages and updates to deliver faster and more efficient communication. Businesses can accelerate sales by automating the sharing of payment links and generate automated support messages to deliver faster customer support. They can also offer enhanced security by providing verification and authentication codes to customers during login via fast and secure WhatsApp or SMS.
